A new journey in the airline world that already has started. The airline industry is embarking on the next leg of the journey to a world of modern Airline Retailing based on the IATA ONE Order standard. This new industry standard shall consist in 100% Offers and Orders by ideally 2030. The airlines - the so called First Movers - that have already started this journey share a strong belief in the future of modern Airline Retailing. Others are still waiting. For the First Movers, this industry-wide transition process, also documents the strategic importance of modernizing their legacy distribution and financial processes into modern and simplified state-of-the art retailing process. However, change and transition into such a new technique means also invest into new IT and additional process efforts for any airlines at the very beginning. The crucial question therefore is: Why should an airline engage in such transition activities.
